Love is the strongest force in the world. The magnetism that pulls us in, closer than breath, also stretches us apart. The cords of love are infinite, and love is more than feeling and seeing. It’s believing, a knowing. Love is always.
Fear, which does not exist in love, forms in the broken places, the anguish that screams inside my bones a lie of unworthiness. Do You see me? What if the fractures are the framework to an armor of light, a shield of faith. God’s Word is my defense, and the Word says I am loved.
Pride is a protective posture to disguise the fear. But could the lie be my offering, an ash heap, dust? The mystery of grace compels me, for the Spirit gives us fear of the Lord, and fearing God I need not fear anything else. Why me? Who am I that You are mindful of me? Do we believe He wants us to come close and ask? May every breath say, “Here I am Abba. Thank You for knowing me and loving me still.”
Love is longing. Love longs as a soul thirsts for meaning and belonging. God’s eyes are everywhere, but to be found we must plunge into the depth of the ache, the wanting we can’t explain or understand but that never leaves. Fear and pride hold us back from trustfalling deep, the leap of faith into what we do not comprehend but believe we will find.
If I’ve been taught anything, I have learned that fear and pride are not from God, because God is in the deep. My ego mind manages and tries to be perfect, but the heart waits to flow forth freely, from the river of the soul.
Deep calls to deep, and love answers as a whisper; yes and amen, breath moves and darkness trembles.
Maybe what we learn isn’t one answer, but to trust the promise that if we seek, we find. Always.
