Metaphorically speaking, we don’t turn on the lamp so we can look at the wallpaper. We flip the switch, burn the candle, or point the flashlight so we can see.
The light opens the eyes of our hearts, and we can see in the dark. Metaphorically speaking.
Remember how I described this as a search and rescue story? Well, plot twist – God was there the entire time. He never left; I never walked alone, even if I did feel like an exile and sometimes still do. I think that is the real story, the part about learning to surrender our feelings to faith, to belief, to trust, and to hope because we are called as children of the God of heaven, who loves us because He made us to be loved.
What if we look back to move forward. What if we say, “Thank You Jesus. I see that You were there in that moment. What did You see?”
That’s a perspective shift, a point of view that seems more interesting and everlasting. When the Source of Light and Wisdom speaks knowledge into experience, we realize truth worth sharing. And that’s the truth, isn’t it? We survive on His faithfulness. We forgive by His goodness. We heal through His peace. We live in the light of His love. We love.
The light shines in the darkness not as a filter but as the only force strong enough to alchemize something old into something new and altogether beautiful.
What do you think?
